Hit-and-Run Driver Kills Pedestrian Teenager; Mother brings Wrongful Death Lawsuit
In Wheatfield, New York, the mother of a 16-year-old has filed a wrongful death lawsuit following a hit-and-run accident. The teenager was walking with his girlfriend along a town highway when he was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene. He died as a result of head injuries the following day. Criminal charges have been brought against the driver who has plead not guilty. The wrongful death lawsuit alleges the driver was texting while driving. The attorney for the victim’s family believes Allstate Insurance Company, who insures the driver, will hire an attorney to defend the case. In the wake of this tragedy, the town is considering improvements to include a sidewalk to make this road safer for pedestrians to travel.
