Failure to Timely Treat Cancer by Veteran’s Administration Ends Up in Wrongful Death Settlement to Patient’s Family
The Department of Veteran’s Affairs has agreed to pay a $900,000 settlement for failing to schedule and provide timely medical treatment for a patient with specialized care for melanoma. The patient was a Vietnam Veteran seeking treatment at VA Puget Sound in Seattle, Washington but passed away due to the VA’s failure to provide treatment. The settlement paid to his family is reportedly the largest settlement arising for wrongful death from Puget Sound since 2001.
