Injured Construction Workers File Lawsuits Against Semiconductor Manufacturer
Two lawsuits have been filed by construction workers in the U.S. District Court in Albany, New York. Each worker sustained injuries at a construction site for a multi-billion dollar factory for GlobalFoundries, an international semiconductor manufacturer. One of the workers sustained injuries when building materials fell on him, and the other worker was injured when he fell into an open floor area that was not safeguarded by barricades. Previously, a worker was killed on the same construction site when an air handling unit fell on him, and fines were issued by the federal Occupation Safety and Health Administration. GlobalFoundries spokespersons have declined to comment on these pending legal matters.
