Las Vegas Doctor Operates on Wrong Part of Ex-Football Player’s Spine
A Las Vegas doctor may lose his medical license after operating on the wrong disc level of a former collegiate football player’s spine. A jury recently found the doctor was negligent and awarded the patient more than $4.2 million for his injuries. The Nevada Board of Medical Examiners is now evaluating whether to suspend or revoke the doctor’s license and looking into his history of malpractice. In 2011 the doctor operated on the wrong level of another college football player’s spine following a back injury. Prior to the current case, the doctor had been sued six times for malpractice and paid approximately $5.5 million in settlements.
