Uber Settles Lawsuit Over Fatal Crash of Six-Year-Old Girl
Uber has settled a lawsuit with the family of a six-year-old girl who was killed by one its drivers in San Francisco. The little girl was struck in a crosswalk along with her five-year-old brother and mother. The mother underwent eye surgery and was hospitalized for several weeks. Uber classifies its drivers as contractors so that Uber is not responsible for their negligence. However, the attorneys for this family argued that Uber’s phone-based interface distracted the driver and contributed to the accident. The settlement has been filed in San Francicso Superior Court and the details have been kept confidential for the privacy of the parties.
